To circumvent this geo-restriction, we’ll need a few things; An Android smartphone, a good VPN that has servers in the US, and a credit card that supports international transactions. Let’s begin.
Get the Disney+ Subscription
Step 1: To get started, take out your Android smartphone. If you don’t have an Android smartphone, you can use Android emulator apps like Nox player on your computer. Unfortunately, you can’t use your computer or iOS devices to create an account as of now. Step 2: Before we go ahead, make sure your credit card is updated on your Play Store account and has international transactions enabled. If you’re unsure if the Credit Card has international transactions enabled, contact your bank or Credit Card provider. To add the Credit Card to your Play Store account, Go to Play Store > Hamburger Menu > Payment Methods > Add Payment Method > Add Credit Card info.
Step 3: If you don’t live in the US then you won’t be able to view Disney+ app in the Play Store, you can either set the location of the Play Store account on your smartphone to the US or sideload the app from the Internet. Head over to Google and search for disney+ APK. Download it and install the app on your smartphone. Step 4: After installing the app, if you open it, you’ll get an error message that says that the service is not available in your country. To circumvent this geo-restriction, open a VPN app of your choice. We have tested it on Smart DNS Proxy VPN and PureVPN, and both worked well for us. These are paid VPN services that cost a few dollars a month depending on the plan you choose. Alternatively, you can also try one of these free VPNs and see if they work. Next, select a US server, and connect the VPN. Take note of which Server you’re choosing in the VPN app because we’ll need it in the next step. I chose the New York Server.
Step 5: Now, this is important, set the smartphone’s time to match the time where your VPN server is, in my case, I chose New York. Go to Settings > System > Date&Time > Turn off automatic Time and set the timezone to New York. This is only necessary the first time you create your Disney+ account, you won’t have to do this again.
Step 6: Now, as a security measure, clear the Cache and Storage in the Disney+ App info page. You can open the page by tapping and holding the Disney+ icon and selecting App Info.
Step 7: If you launch the app now, you’d be able to see the Free Trial page, tap the button and select a Subscription plan. You can either set up a monthly payment or pay at once for an entire year. Follow the on-screen instructions and set up a Disney+ account.
Step 8: After you’re done, the app will ask you to pay. Use Google Pay to authenticate the payment and begin the subscription. It will take some time to process and once it does, all the Disney Magic is now on your phone.
You can now watch all the Disney+ shows available in the US on the app. Make sure the VPN is connected at all times when you access Disney+ or you might get an error again in the future. To fix that, simply clear the cache, cookies, and app history, then run the app after connecting to a US server on a VPN app and it should start working again.
Now, you can use the same login to watch disney+ on an iPhone, a computer or even Android TV. Simply, run a VPN with US server, login with your Disney+ credentials, and watch your favorite shows. To watch it on your PS4 or streaming devices, you can set up a VPN on your router.
Get Disney+ from anywhere in the world
The interface of the Disney+ app looks like Netflix with a similar profile layout. You can download the shows locally, watch on 4 different screens at once. You can also create kids’ profiles and setup up parental controls. Unlike Netflix that only supports 4, you can create up to 7 profiles on Disney+ and there is no limit to how many devices you can download movies and tv shows on. It’s pretty cool.
So, there you go, that’s how you can subscribe and watch disney+ outside the supported countries. Let me know which shows are you going to binge in the comments below.
